In 2017, Firebrand approached Tom Murray to develop a play on the theme of archaeology, its primary importance in proving and disproving accepted historical narratives and its innate analogy to our own excavations of our personal lives and the accepted narratives of who we are. The result was a play called What Lies Beneath? which Tom developed with the input of Ellie, Janet and Richard, followed by further workshopping with actress Fiona Wood joining the team, and culminating in a rehearsed reading by Ellie, Janet and Fiona, as part of Playwright Studio Scotland’s week long TalkFest in the Borders at MacArts in Galashiels.
